Author's comments

A consideration... "Do you know what the secret to California is? Donner Pass. Do you remember the story? In the 1800s, a group of immigrants heading to California were snowed in for the winter. And when their food ran out, they became cannibals. They ate each other. That has to mess with somebody's head. If they weren't nuts before doing that, they surely were afterwards. The California genetic pool has a sizeable dose of cannibalism in it." The three "F" rule: If it flies, floats, or feeds - rent, don't buy. A `Bullpen" defined: A woman, whether married or single, whether she realizes it or not, keeps a bullpen, a man or two in the back of her mind. Just in case she ever needs to fill a vacancy.

Benjamin J. Boodle

This is an exciting first novel from a writer with tremendous potential for more great work! Excellent descriptions and terrific dialogue, "Things You Need to Know" may serve the reader better as a guide for financial success. We need more from Joe Hanson.

Different and exciting

This is a book of advice veiled in the form of a novel. It is refeshing to be entertained while being educated in finance, romance, and life in general. It is a quick read and will keep the reader guessing to the end. I am waiting for the sequel!

Amusing Lightweight Thriller

Austin accountant Jack Grant goes to Los Angeles for a vacation and does a rich client a favor by looking in on her niece and the niece's new boyfriend. And the more he investigates the boyfriend the more trouble he encounters. Ultimately he walks into a trap and has to figure a way out. The novel is funny and well-paced. A steady diet of witty dialogue and a Beverly Hills setting make the book a good choice for an afternoon at the beach.
