My name is Luna Bradshaw. I should be giggling with friends over my first kiss. Maybe falling in love for the first time, drinking, partying, and doing dumbass teenage things. But that girl died when the virus hit. Now I'm a girl who fights. A girl who kills.

Twelve months after a virus wiped out most of the population, society collapsed. No power, low supplies, and food. Ordinary people became one of two things: the undead or survivors. All of us became savage predators.

Every day is an endless battle of foraging for supplies. Hiding from the infected and scavengers, people like me trying to survive in a brutal, merciless world. By night I shelter in a camp with a group of children, but the camp is no sanctuary. The need for dominance between the older teenagers' brews. Tempers flare and the line between friend and foe blur.

What remains of the government continues to invade surrounding towns, drawing closer, and shooting or taking people. I'm compelled to take Ness and leave. But the children rely on me, which is dangerous in a world where the only person you can rely on is yourself.
