“They Call It Murder” sounds like a song title.

As with many a movie, you must wait for the appropriate time to her them say, “They call it murder!” This is a 1971 complex murder mystery. This includes a list of the standard suspects, and of course it is always the last person you would suspect. This is not a closed-door mystery. It is a body-in-the-pool mystery. It gets more complex as it goes and will need a good explanation near the end to explain the obvious clues and the hidden clues. Again, being 1971 at one point, Doug Selby fixes something not seen on cars today: a carburetor. I was familiar with “Perry Mason,” but I was not that aware of another “Erle Stanley Gardner” (1889-1970) work that includes Doug Selby, D.A., played here by Jim Hutton. There is a litany of actors mostly over the hill at the time. Do you remember any of them?
