They Are Not Interested is a short book written to the person who cannot take the hint. It stretches the "many fish in the sea" clich as far as possible, teaching the reader valuable lessons that it is not your job to teach, such as: (1) just because one fish is not interested, it does not mean no fish will ever be interested; (2) it is just as inappropriate to ask them why they are not interested as it would be to ask a fish why it is not biting; and (3) as in fishing, just because you think a fish looks like the right one from the surface, doesn't mean it actually is, so there's no reason obsessing over the one you can't catch. The book is designed to be light in tone, but also very focused on a singular message: "they are not interested." Part of Michael Luketich's broader exploration of the roles books really play and the experiences they can generate.
