A New York City detective on medical leave and an author meet in a laundromat and form a pact to travel together. He wanted to get away after the death of his wife by a serial killer by traveling from town to town. She wanted to travel from State Park to State Park in a large RV to see the parks, meet people, and gather ideas for new books and stories for an RV MAGAZINE that she also wrote for. What she soon learned during their travels, was that he was known at work as a criminal magnet because he always seemed to be in the right place at the right time to apprehend them. Although he thought being away from work he wouldn't have that trouble. Unfortunately, for him and his new traveling companion that was far from being a fact. They both end up with dealing with several types of criminals more often than either of them wanted to or had planned on. He had a year of medical leave and she was able to do her work for an insurance company, and write her books and stories for the magazine; if they could both stay alive. As for the good parts of their travels, they were able to see some beautiful State Parks, enjoy their amenities, make new interesting friends, and enjoy a lot of fun times together. Dealing with the bad times as they happened was another experience and trying at times. The detective found he wasn't going to be able to complete his medical leave as planned. He was called back to duty in New York when his partner and some of his friends were ambushed and killed. His author traveling companion had been drawn into all this and because she'd grown to care so much for him, she wasn't about to drop out of the picture for her own safety. She was determined to help him face whatever came their way. He feared for her safety; but because his feelings for her had grown immensely, being away from her became much harder than he expected. Because of both of their decisions, they faced and dealt with criminals and each suffered and experienced having to heal wounds. Making this relationship last was going to be very trying to say the least; but they were both committed to making it work.
