Fantastic

Great read with non-stop entertainment. It is well written and full of wit that will make you laugh over and over again. The book is a breath of fresh air. "Plunger" is a quick and easy read that will keep you entertained from start to finish. Highly recommend it to everyone and anyone!! Get it for yourself or as a great gift for friends and family. Absolutely fantastic book!

A must-read

I stumbled across this book and couldn't be happier to have read it! I found Mr. Handwerger's stories to be witty, amusing, honest, and endearing. My first reaction upon completing "There's a Plunger in my Tree" was that I wanted to meet him and his family, and experience the hilarious situations that he manages to get himself into. This collection of stories highlights and celebrates both the idiosyncrasies and the deep love of a very entertaining family. Like another reviewer said, after finishing, I wanted the stories to keep coming! Definitely worth reading, especially if you are in the mood for a particularly sincere and uplifting (and laugh-out-loud funny!) book.

Best bathroom book ever

This book was passed along to me by a friend, with the comment that it was very funny. It's more than that. There's a Plunger in My Tree is a collection of beautifully styled essays that live up to the author's suggestion that he shares a literary consciousness (and shelf space) with the likes of E. B. White. You'll have to read them for yourself, but I found this collection of essays to be a delightful, laugh-out-loud series of insights into the function of a loving family led by a guy who has the rare ability to see himself clearly and to laugh at his foibles. If the stories are true, and they certainly have a genuine ring, he has been blessed with a wife who is both a partner in his adventures and a straight man to his occasional comedic misadventures. Plunger is fun, the essays quickly become old friends deserving of revisiting from time to time, and has earned its place of honor on my bathroom reading shelf.

I've never been a big reader besides the weekend newspaper or a magazine here and there. The only time I could commit myself to a full novel was when I was on a relaxing vacation somewhere, otherwise I didn't pick it up enough to remember where I left off. This book is full of hilarious SHORT stories where I could just read one, two or a few and laugh (mostly out loud) hard. That being said, I finished it in three days and I was one of those looking and hoping for more pages, more stories. They say laughter will keep you young and help you heal. Don't read this book yet. Buy it and keep it close. Open it when you're having a rough day or going through some tough times. A guaranteed pick me up. I loved it.
