John Noble, having lost both his parents in an accident, was left with life changing injuries. As his hopes of becoming a Police Officer were dashed, he embarks on an alternative career as a Private Detective
Along with his wife, Wendy, a reporter with the "Essex Gazette" and young daughter, Chloe, they use a cottage in the Essex village of Little Polson, left to John by his parents, as a weekend retreat. This seems to the casual eye to be just a normal, sleepy village, but it is an "Elite Village".
