Book Overview

There & Back is the autobiography of Eddie Daniels, who was born in South Africa, District Six, in 1928. Because of his opposition to apartheid as a member of the Liberal Party of South Africa and the African Resistance Movement, he was banned, detained, imprisoned, and banned again. Facing a possible death penalty he refused to be witness for the state or give undertakings to two supreme court judges who were prepared to negotiate with the National government for his release from prison.

A BOOK ABOUT A GREAT MAN

I met Eddie Daniels as an undergraduate student as I was fortunate to attend his lecture and an intimate dinner hosted by my school's African Studies department. Eddie Daniels is a humble human being with an unmatched dedication for social justice. His story and strength of character are unforgettable. Many of the anti-apartheid leaders have seen hard financial times after their release from Robben Island. Mandela is one exception. Given this, I would encourage you to purchase a new copy of this book if that is at all possible.

Excellent Book!

I recently heard Mr. Daniels speak of his experiences, and I must say that I'm still in awe. Whether you're a scholar or just intersted, this is a great book with eye-opening accounts of his life.
