Theras and His Town - Greece

A junior high level Parents Magazine's book club book about a seven year old boy who lives in Athens, Greece long ago. He at age 10, he runs away, leaves town and goes on an adventure with a friend.Theras and his friend learn many things and do a lot of growing up. He goes to Sparta, where his friend is arrested and taken prisoner. He then meets another friend Abas and continues on...They are pursued by the Spartans Theras met previously; escape into a forest and are attacked by a wild cat. They end up at an inn where they overhear talk of others wanting to take them as slaves, so they escape out the window. Abas falls and injures his ankle, when Theras can no longer carry him, he goes for help. They take a ship back to Athens. When Theras returns someone else was living in his house. With the help of friends he finds his family again.
