"... You'll be aware, of course, that the life of a languages student is inherently nomadic - who's doing Spanish?" Many hands reach for the sky. "And Russian?" Fewer hands launch skywards. "... Russian... and... Spanish?" five digits claw ineffectually for the ceiling. That year, there was only one person doing that course. The lecturer was referring to the Year Abroad - one university year spent in the country (or, in my case, countries) that spoke the target language. This book is based on the blog I wrote during that year, intended to give readers an insight into real life in both Russia and Argentina - insight from a student that took that whole "Nomad" thing a little too close to heart.
