Thems the Mung Beans of...: Poems

By Abraham J. Frost

Thems the Mung Beans of... is a deliberately unsettled collection, resistant to deciding what it wants to be. Abraham J. Frost moves restlessly between art galleries and thrift stores, political rants and personal grievances, stacking observations atop one another with the careless precision of a yard sale. The poems turn their attention, with equal fervor, to luxury watches, healthy cigarettes, the vast collapse of democracy, and freshly restocked Birkenstocks, their intensity occasionally slipping into purposeful incoherence. The poems are tender and bitter, philosophical and somewhat profane, sometimes within a single breath. This is a jagged, unsettled portrait of a mind and a culture unraveling in real time.

Messy, uneven, and intentionally difficult, this collection announces its terms early: the author is no less lost than anyone else.
