It's no secret that lawyers make great fiction writers. They spend their days at the heart of conflict and they live or die by their choice of words. Now, in this unique collection of interviews, the top lawyer-novelists of our day discuss the inner workings of their craft-from the moral explorations of Louis Auchincloss to the dynamic thrills of Scott Turow. Including in-depth interviews with: * David Baldacci * Linda Fairstein * Philip Friedman * John Grisham * Steve Martini * Richard North Patterson * Lisa Scottoline * Scott Turow * and others...
I am a HUGE Legal Fiction fan and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Stephen Murphy took a personal curiosity/hobby and published it for the public to enjoy. The interviews with several of the authors were at the beginning of their careers, before they were MEGA-STARS which I find fascinating, because you get to see an insight in to the real person and how they work before fame changed them. The questions were insightful and exactly what I wanted to know about many of the characters these authors made famous. Many of the questions I have never heard asked before in any of the interviews these authors have given since then. Martini had it correct, if you are a legal author fan you will love this book!
It makes you want to read and write

I loved this book. It explained me (the writer) what motivates writers. Intervieuwing thirty one of them, from legal profession abandoned for writing or doing the two of it parallel, Murphy's book had only one problem with me: I do want now to read almost all author's books.I just hope someone did it with other kind of writing too.It will take time, but I'll have to see myself, how they wrote their books. It is a fascinating book and opening the appetite, as well to me reader, as giving hints to me writer.

Murphy is a master at drawing out the lawyer/authors in a way that demonstrates his own knowledge about their works and allows them to reveal their human side.
