The young: images under construction

Introduction: from television to young people or from young people to television? Like all arduous work, the text that begins here is a long journey. The first words of this paper are devoted to reviewing this drift from what was an initial concern, a spark that, with time and reflection, would give rise to the writing that follows. In general terms, the question that governs the work is the following: how does television construct meanings about youth? The path that led to this question has certainly not been a straight line. Initially, the thesis was intended to focus on a particular type of representation of youth in the mass media, namely that of the young delinquent.
