Ghosts can take many forms; the souls of the departed; reflections of past events - or those who just frustrate us by moving things around. There is, however, a fourth kind, defying description, who delight in inflicting suffering and pain - and even death, itself, on rare occasions. For the most part, however, they do us little harm - inhabitants of a nether world from which they, rarely, venture forth. They exist, primarily, in tales told around the fireside on cold, Winter's evenings - when the rattle of a door latch or the creak of a floorboard bestows upon them a reality they seldom possess. Still, there are some who will swear to having seen the genuine thing - usually when susceptible to those kinds of delusions born of a drink, or two, at some public house. That is not to say, of course, that all such tales are untrue - and the man, or woman, who simply brushes them aside may, one day, regret their forthright denials. Within the pages of this book are four, individual, stories - each and every one of them a complete work of fiction.
