From the scandalous antics of the world's most beautiful women to the wicked deeds of scheming murderesses, this book chronicles the most outrageous, the most villainous and the most horrific acts of... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This chunky book contains many stories about the acts of infamous women, some guilty of infidelity, some marrying purely for wealth and money, some manipulating situations so that it could suit their selfish ways, some who ruled their subjects ruthlessly, and some even committed mass murders. One woman who really caught my interest was that of Mary Ann Cotton, a seemingly kind and good natured woman who seemed to spread death wherever she went. Deaths of friends, family and children whenever Mary Ann was ominously close by led to suspicions, and after the death of her stepson ( which occurred after she had confided in a village welfare worker that the boy was standing in the way of a marriage prospect) resulted in an investigation and her subsequent arrest. A total of 21 of her acquaintances died from the same disease - gastric fever. The assumption was that this woman had poisoned her babies , her husbands, her friend. Why? Only this one of many notorious women would know. Although the book was very enjoyable, there were incoherent sentences and parts that jumped from here and there and some grammar mistakes. But that didn't spoil it for me. It was still a page turner. Come on women, if you think you have evil roots, you'll find that you are an angel once you read this. Open your eyes. You're not that bad! To sum it up, this was a great find.
