Geoff Tibballs' book on Hoaxes is humorously and well written. He covers many many 'hoaxes' and stories in his book, including such well-known hoaxes as the Minnesota Iceman and the woman who claimed to be Grand Duchesses Anastasia. He also covers lesser known and "new to me" stories such as the major production studio who set up a fake movie reviewer and hoaxed newspapers into publishing "his" movie reviews (which were of course favorable to the studio's offerings). He also claims that the woman who said she could not go back to Ghana or she would be mutilated was all an elaborate hoax. This floored me and I'm not sure I should believe him (believe it, or not!) because it was taken as absolute truth by so many famous people (these would be totally embarrased if it was widely known the episode was a total hoax by the woman in an effort to stay in the USA). Anyway, this is a marvellous book if you're interested in the paranormal or just looking for a good read while sitting on "the throne" in the bathroom. Excellent!
