The World

The church for years has preached against "worldliness". While it IS right in doing this, the term "worldly" is still pretty vague. Biblical terms are sometimes thrown around without much consistency in terms of definition. Since the church has never given a scriptural, concrete definition of what "the world" is, its description has become subject to the personal opinion and preference of many people who have come up with their own description. What is it about any particular thing that makes it worldly? Could it just be my own opinion because I personally disapprove of it or is there a scriptural basis to identify it as worldly? What is the standard by which we can discern or determine what is worldly or not? Of course, the answer is the bible and scripture gives us many descriptions of "the world" that enable us to get a clear picture and enough information that we can answer these questions if we look closely enough.
