The World Through Charlie's Eyes: First Day At School

By Sarah-Leigh Autumn

A warm and reassuring story for every child who feels both nervous and excited about starting school.

Charlie is five years old-bright, curious, full of wonder, and experiencing the world in her own special way. Today is a very big day: her first day at school.

From the moment Charlie wakes up and whispers, "I can do this," every step feels important and new. She gets dressed, eats breakfast, buckles her seatbelt, and walks through the school gate holding Mom's hand.

Inside the classroom, everything feels loud, colorful, busy, and overwhelming. Charlie is unsure whether she is ready-until a friendly little girl named Anna sits beside her. With one small act of kindness, Charlie's frightening new classroom begins to feel like a place where friendship and wonderful adventures can grow.

This gentle picture book celebrates courage, friendship, emotional awareness, and the understanding that it is perfectly okay to feel nervous when trying something new.

Perfect for children ages 4-8, especially:

- Children preparing for their first day of school
- Children who experience big feelings or become overwhelmed in new places
- Highly sensitive and neurodivergent children
- Families seeking encouraging stories about friendship, courage, and self-acceptance
- Parents, caregivers, and teachers supporting children through important transitions

Sometimes the best adventures begin with one brave little step.

She feels things differently-and that's okay.
