The World That Couldn't Breathe

The Lion and the Lamb written by Frank Nino IV, is a dark, allegorical story set in a world that has been quietly overtaken by an invisible force known as the Veil, a suffocating, beast-made pandemic that spreads through the air and slowly weakens all who breathe it. What begins as a promise of protection turns into a system of control, as wolves and snakes rise to power, guiding the world through fear while shaping the very air, water, and food the lions depend on.

The story follows Kaydan, a lion born in a rare generation that remembers what the world once was, strong, alive, and untainted. As a cub, he experiences freedom and vitality, but as he grows into a great lion, he witnesses the slow collapse of his kind. Lions and lionesses of his generation begin to weaken and die in their 40s, burdened by respiratory illness, anxiety, and a constant sense that something is deeply wrong. As the Veil tightens its grip, the wolves enforce obedience through fear, while the snakes introduce solutions that promise survival but only deepen the decline. Masks become a way of life. Dependence on the system becomes unavoidable. Families drift apart. Truth-seekers disappear. And the majority of lions accept this new reality without question.

But Kaydan is different.

Guided by an inner awareness and a deep love for something greater, he sees beyond the surface of the world's transformation. Alongside his soulmate Lonies, he raises eight cubs, Avery, Angel, Jasmine, Rosemary, Dayami, Myah, Delilah, and Bella, holding onto hope in a world that feels increasingly controlled and hopeless. Though separated from his estranged son Frank, their bond remains unbreakable, a quiet reminder that connection cannot be fully destroyed.

As Kaydan's body weakens and his time grows short, he comes to understand a deeper truth: while the wolves and snakes appear to be winning, their control is temporary. Beyond the Veil exists a greater power, the Lamb, once slaughtered but risen again, the true King who serves all and stands untouched by corruption.

In the end, Kaydan does not defeat the system. He does not expose it or escape it.

Instead, he chooses faith.

With his final breaths, he passes on the one truth that cannot be controlled or taken:

No matter how dark, manipulated, or broken the world becomes...

The Lamb wins.

And through Him, so do those who believe.
