The world as imagination and anaesthesia

Conceit and numbness are two things that define us and the world. But only for those who have ever wondered about the universe and life. They asked "why", they asked for meaning. They stared into nothingness. What is reality, what is consciousness, why are we here? Most of the time, these questions end in uncertainty and doubt. What remains are existential problems, inevitable death and no answers. One feels like Sisyphus, always asking questions and finding no answers, and tomorrow it's the same again. However, there are also ways out of this problem. Those who have the courage to commit suicide are free of all problems. However, our selfish genes want to reproduce and therefore keep us alive as individuals. The second best option is religion. God is inexplicable, and that explains everything. What remains is a life of absurdity, humour, constant activity, an eternal search for meaning, daydreams and entertainment with a lot of noise. All this to keep the "dragons of nothingness" at bay. In the end, we grow old, and Thanatos, death, touches us. The lights go out, the show is over. Hopefully, it was a good performance.
