I was an able-bodied girl until the age of 12 and then life as I knew it ended. I got diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder that took away my ability to walk and feeling from the right side of my body. In addition, I lost my friends, my life, my goals, my dreams and in a way myself and my family. This poetry book consists of the words and emotions pent-up inside of me that I couldn't say out loud to my loved ones. I used poetry to communicate these sacred feelings and emotions, and this brought us closer together. I also wrote this book to help others going through similar hardships to realize that they are not alone, and that it is okay to feel depressed and angry at the world sometimes. But it is equally important to balance these negative emotions with the joys of life. This book is the literal version of me being an open book, with all my vulnerabilities on display. Throughout this book the reader will travel along with me on this journey of self and maybe unlock some things about themselves too.
