Excellent Bible

This is an excellent Bible.

Very simple English unlocks the true feeling behind the words

When I first got looked at this Bible, I felt like the language was so simple it was dumbing me down. Felt a bit like reading caveman talk. The concept has interested me so I looked at it again and decided to buy it. Why? I noticed that it enables me to hear the message on a totally different level than intellectually. I'm pretty well educated, so reading is no trouble for me, but there's something primal about reading the Bible in this version. It keeps the reading from being too cerebral and more on a heart level. Interestingly, Jesus' words aren't changed too much because he used pretty simple language for the poor and uneducated to understand. This is not a Bible only for poor readers or the mentally challenged. Even the graduate student level people can gain from this version. It has made me hear the words in Jesus in a whole new way yet without changing the meaning as in some other versions like the Message or the New Living Translation... I've read them all. This version would also be excellent for reading to young children. My only reservation is the choice of some words don't seem best in certain places, but they are slight and may just be a matter of taste.
