I love a good religious epic and this one is a very good read.It tells the story of Roman procurator Pontius Pilate and his dealings with Palestine, the religious High Priests and Jesus of Nazereth himself. It's very well written and hard to put down. There are some disturbing descriptions of cruxifictions, it really makes you wonder how barbaric the human race can be. Not much has changed. The book is written from Pontius Pilate's perspective and is very interesting in relation to the political goings on during the time of Jesus of Nazereth. It contains quite a bit of anti jewish sentiment so was quite controversial for it's time but historically this is the way the Romans were. A fast-paced and vastly entertaining and informative book.
