Two brothers, Jack and Louis woods, grew up on a hardscrabble ranch in Texas along the Brazos River. As life would have it, these boys had to grow into manhood early, facing not only the wild renegade Indians, but wild longhorn cattle as well. Longhorns were abundant in the South, especially around the cedar breaks of the Brazos River. They were as wild as deer and fierce as wild renegades. The young ranchers saw an opportunity and began going into the brush and flushing out the wild Texas longhorns. This story was developed around that demand for beef in the northwest and the huge supply in the South. It took strong men and women to beat them out of the brush and drive them to the market. While Louis left to fight for the Confederates, Jack took another route to build this great nation on his adventurous Texas cattle drive.
