Toby, the son of Jack and Deborah Woods, became very proficient with every weapon available. Louis, Jack's brother, had seen that he was equipped with all the skills he needed to survive. Toby's mother had taught him his Christian values in the settlement of Stevensville, Montana. He was educated by his Aunt Julianne in a one-room log schoolhouse how to read, write, and cipher his numbers. She also taught her students history, foreign and national. Toby listened to the stories of his Uncle Louis and the immigrants who came into the settlement. Clearly, he understood the difference between right and wrong and stood strong on the side of the righteous. It was getting time in his early life to break the apron strings and find his own way. He loved the Rocky Mountains, and the wanderlust began creeping into his soul. When opportunity arose, he headed across the Continental Divide with his friends to find what was on the other side. He discovered new friends and sadly buried some old ones. Toby found riches, love, adventure, and grew into manhood.
