'Hilarious and totally Townsend. There were parts where I laughed until I cried' Daily Mail What happens when a duvet day turns into a duvet year? Sue Townsend, the bestselling author of the Adrian... This description may be from another edition of this product.
If I could give this book a minus 2 stars I would. I was so looking forward to the book the Daily Mail reviewed quoting "I laughed until I cried." I couldn't even find a reason to smile. There is only 1 word in the extra 13 comments quoted on the inside cover that I agree with & the word is absurd. Obviously, Eva takes to her bed because she is fed up with her husband, kids, mother & mother-in-law who are part of her daily life as well as living the life of a housewife. Then she relies on the same family that has no use for her to bring her food & water to keep her alive while she refuses to let her feet touch the floor unless on a trail of towels to the bathroom. The kids are obnoxious, the college acquaintance (Poppy) that inserts herself into the lives of this family is annoying from her first appearance to nearly the last page. Alexander is the only redeeming character in the story. The book was a waste of money & time & I was almost angry that I found no humor in it whatsoever.
