Jack Doherty, AKA "Sportin' Jack" is looking for a new story to write for his column in the Philadelphia Inquirer. Tired of reporting the local news and inspired by the approach of Halloween he decides to ask his readers if they believe in Ghosts. He finds that many do and he receives an invitation to a "Ghost Club" meeting on Halloween night from a mysterious "Mr. Cherry".
