The Wish expresses the imagination and creativity that we experience in one's youth and Jane's journey to rediscover this in her later years. She finds comfort in a beautiful tree and meadow. We travel through her life and struggles as her tree is wilting and almost lost to her. We find that Jane is able to rediscover these experiences through another young girl and how her tree lives on through her.
