As ten frightened chickens were driven away from the flea market, a wise New Hampshire hen calmed them all down and reminded them that they were just moving to a new home. Upon arrival, the chickens realized that she was right. After a few days, the farmer gave the chickens the freedom to roam, hoping they would return to their pen at dusk. However, only New Hampshire hen returned to the pen that night. When morning came, she discovered that five of the chickens were missing. The next evening, she reminded the four chickens that it was time to head to the pen, but they would not come. On the third night, New Hampshire hen warned the rooster that he'd better come home to the pen with her, but the rooster would not come either. Finally, New Hampshire hen was all alone with a valuable lesson to remember to teach her own chicks someday. Dolores D. Bennett was born in the Philippines. Being quarantined gave her the opportunity to write here biography, His Hand on Me, which was published in 2020. In 2021, she republished her first children's book: The Big Black Feather, and wrote five new ones. The Wise Hen (prequel to The Big Black Feather), The Hen's Dream (Sequel to The Big Black Feather), Cutita & Vaquita, PupPup the Bully, and Stories of Boogie's Friends.
