Intriguing mystery in a wonderful fantasy setting.

This book has great world building, despite taking place almost entirely inside a castle on a fozen lake, with a fascinating magic system and a variety of interesting characters. I especially loved Inkar, the love interest, who is strong inside and out, but is also capable of being quite vulnerable. I also really enjoyed the various mentions throughout the book of the many ways the main character's family members have tried to kill each other.
