Great Book

I bought this book for my 11 year old daughter upon her request and it was the best decision ever. It kept her attention and she was quiet for once. It didn't last long because she read the book so fast. Great investment!

9 yr old LOVES these books

My son hates to read but LOVES this series of books. It is the only series he will sit down and read from start to finish. Never loses interest in them. I wish there were more!

Fun and interesting look behind-the-scenes of the movie

I will admit that when I heard there was a Movie Diary, I thought it would just be some lame marketing gimmick to piggyback on the success of the movie. Turns out the book is very interesting and well written. My 7yo son loved it (reluctant reader who has chosen only the Wimpy Kid books to read on his own) as did I. We both learned a lot about how movies are made and it was fun for him to learn some tidbits about the movie (such as the computer-created cheese.) Overall, it was very enjoyable. This is stating the obvious, but the author really knows how to write in a way that kids relate to (and yet parents enjoy) - even outside of the typical Wimpy Kid story.

Can't wait for the movie

My 10 year old loves Diary of a Wimpy Kid! I saw this and knew she would love it and she did! Now she can't wait to see the movie, unfortunately we don't live near a movie theater so we will have to wait until it comes out on DVD! Of course it makes an excellent excuse to go to Juneau (Alaska)!

Turning Diary of a Wimpy Kid into a Movie with Actors

"Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ." -- 1 Corinthians 11:1 (NKJV) When I was a youngster, Dennis the Menace comics were a particular favorite of mine. I don't know if it was what he did, or the fact that his name was similar to mine (Dennis Mitchell). Perhaps it was a little of both. When a live action television series was developed, I was quite interested in seeing it. With the first episode, I was hooked. Jay North seemed to be Dennis the Menace even more than the cartoon character was. I also found that Joseph Kearns' portray of George Wilson also expanded my enjoyment of the stories. Keep that background in mind as I address this book. I found Diary of a Wimpy Kid to be a brilliant book, one that admire for its truth about youngsters as well and its wonderful exposition of the truth. I didn't read anything about The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary before receiving it. When I did, I was delighted to see that it describes how Diary of a Wimpy Kid was developed first as a book and then adapted and presented as a live action movie, much as Dennis the Menace was adapted and presented on television. While I know a lot about movie development, production, and direction, I was very pleased to see that The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary provided lots of entertaining information about how artistic and practical decisions were made, as well as the inevitable funny problems that occur in movies. I especially wanted to know about how they aged that piece of cheese. I'm sure you know which one. Before reading this book, I didn't have much interest in seeing the movie . . . feeling that it would be hard to match the book. Having read The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary, my appetite was whetted to see how well the movie turned out. Why? It looks like a lot of love and care went into creating an honest version of Diary of a Wimpy Kid that might be just as pleasing to me as the Dennis the Menace television shows were. Why don't you read the book, take in the movie, and see what you think? I suspect you'll be glad if you do. If you don't know much about the movies, you'll have an extra treat in store. This book does a great job of explaining the more important processes (except for raising the money). What are you waiting for? You're not afraid of a piece of cheese, are you?
