Hayley Bruce and her friend Fanny Albright make their living on the streets. One is a lady of the night, whilst the other is a meat pie vendor with a secret and a mouth-watering, lucrative business.

Inspector Frederick Laidler is one of Hayley's customers. He thrives on her meat pies whilst trying to resolve the Ripper murders, catch the elusive body snatchers and pacify his over demanding wife.
