A Door County classic - love the tart Montmorency cherries!
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 17 years ago
The front section provides a nice historical overview of Door County, fish boils and White Gull Inn. This cookbook provides a worthwhile assortment of rich, but delicious, dishes. You can't eat like this every day, but this is a good cookbook to find that special dish to highlight a meal. Favorites recipes feature use of Door County tart Montmorency cherries. We pick cherries in Door Co annually, freeze them and dole them out throughout the year. This cookbook's outstanding Montmorency Cherry Almond Pie recipe is worth the cost of the book alone. The cherry coffee cake, parmesan peppercorn dressing and shrimp and artichoke romano are great recipes, too. An excellent addition to your cookbook library if you'd enjoy fussing a little in the kitchen for a taste of Door County, or you are looking for new ideas for entertaining at home.
OK, so they use a lot of butter...

My husband and I love the breakfasts and Candlelight dinners at the White Gull Inn. The first book let us in on some of our favorites, and this follow-up book gives us even more goodies! The recipes are definitely not low fat or low cholesterol, but they are definitely delicious. Besides, you can always adjust and substitute to make things a little healthier. If you're from the Midwest and have been to Door County, you'll love the recipes. If you've never been, maybe it will entice you to visit! Not too many people, though....we'd like to keep it a little bit of a secret!
