The story follows Clayton, a young Army veteran who returns home after losing an arm and leg in combat. The incident that caused his injuries also resulted in the death of their fellow soldier Travis, and was caused by a navigational
error made by their friend Sean. Struggling with PTSD, anger, and adjustment to civilian life, Clayton pushes away those trying to help him, including his overbearing mother Julie, his understanding father Carl, and especially Sean, whom he blames for the accident. While staying with Travis's widow Kristen and her young daughter Reese, Clayton attempts to rebuild his life by taking a job at a local gym. However, his unresolved trauma and hostility towards Sean leads to tragedy when Sean commits suicide, unable to cope with his guilt. This forces Clayton to finally confront his own demons and begin accepting help from his father and family, realizing that healing requires letting go of anger and accepting support from loved ones.
