GREAT READ

This was a great read! Very well written. Good Story line. Even the secondary plots are thought provoking and it says a lot that I didn't feel the urge to skip through the pages ( which I sometimes do) I only have two complaints. This was the final book in a series. I hadn't read the first two so that is on me... And I thought the title had NOTHING to do with the novel. I think it was the author's effort to keep the titles consistent, it was much more of a throw back to the two previous books. I am excited though I just bought the other two books. So, I am going to read them all three in order. I LOVE WHEN I FIND A NEW AUTHOR. HAPPY READING!!!!

Feel Good Read!

If you're looking for the kind of book that keeps you up all night turning the pages and leaves you with misty eyes and that warm tingling in your stomach, pick up The Wedding Dress today. I loved the characters, the storyline...I loved the whole shebang! The hero is a 5 star sexy Scottish hunk and the heroine is a strong and independent woman. Their dialogue will have you laughing and crying. Their love story will have you sighing. Lots of complexities get thrown into the mix as medieval Scottish lore adds intrigue and tension to Jared and Emma's budding relationship. This was the first Kimberly Cates book I picked up and after reading it, I can't wait to buy the rest of her titles. I'd recommend this read to anyone--finally a contemporary author who's smart, witty, and who knows how to write a romance!

3 1/2 stars...

Actress Emma McDaniel has been offered the role of a lifetime. Finally given the opportunity to break out of the artistic shell she was put in, Emma is looking forward to spending six weeks in the Scottish countryside learning about Lady Aislinn, the valiant woman she will portray on the big screen. After a heartbreaking divorce that was splashed all over the tabloids, Emma is looking forward to the peace of being in Scotland. Unfortunately the guide she expected is far from the grizzly old professor image she had built in her mind. Instead she found herself face to face with a man that she was instantly attracted to. It was too bad that his disdain for her was clear on his face. Dr. Jared Butler is passionate about telling the story of Lady Aislinn. He knows that Emma McDaniel is far from the actress needed to fill the roll. Though he's never seen her movies, he is sure that she doesn't have the talent needed to play a character such as Lady Aislinn. All he can do is hope to drive her off his site. It was just bad luck that he felt an instant attraction for the woman. A word of caution: This book starts off very slow. There is a lot of history regarding Lady Aislinn thrown in. There is also a lot of self-loathing thoughts that both the characters have. It does pick up about halfway through and is worth the read. You can literally feel Jared's confusion and his internal battle that he has going on with himself. With Emma, you just love her. She is a great heroine that deserves far better than what she got. Both characters are loveable and you will be happy with the conclusion to their story!

LISTEN UP, LLMiller & JQuinn fans.... this book is great!

Bought this book because it was recommended by Linda Lael Miller on the cover who said "I'm always delighted by (Kimberly Cates') books". So I thought I'd try it. What a wonderful story! This book includes a modern day story and and ancient Scotland story. The characters are great: Jared as the emotionally isolated, grumpy, sexy archeologist and Emma as the very down-to-earth and love-shy actress out to prove she can wield a medieval sword. Apparently, this book is part of a series about a very loving, quirky family (very Nora Roberts-ish). The ancient story is an added bonus, as well as the story of the college students working at the dig site. The book grabs your heart... and is very sexy, too. I plan to go read all the books I can find by Kimberly Cates; I'm very excited to discover a Romance writer I like! By the way, my favorites in addition to LLMiller, JQuinn, and NRoberts include LKleypas, SEnoch, SJeffries to give you an idea of what I like.

interesting contemporary romance

Twenty-eight years old Jade Star Emma McDaniel looks forward to the complex role that will prove she can act to all her doubters; the part also allows her to escape somewhat the American tabloids fascination with her ex-husband cheating on her. She crosses the ocean to the dig site in Scotland to prepare herself for the role of early fourteenth century legendary warrior Lady Valiant, written for another actress who got hurt. Her teacher archeologist Dr. Jared Butler is rude towards her to hide his shocking, to him, attraction to the American. Jared is haunted by medieval ghosts and personal demons. He wants nothing to do with Emma, but cannot stop his desire for her. She feels the same way. However, as they make interesting discoveries at the dig, they fall in love. THE WEDDING DRESS is an interesting contemporary romance that is actually at its best when the lead couple reflect upon the 1305 heroics of Lady Valiant. Though the story line at times decelerates especially when the McDaniel clan enters the fold (past and present), readers will enjoy the changing relationship between the actress and the archeologist Harriet Klausner
