The Way of Love is a novella in two parts. Set in the north of England in 1980, part one, Rue Paradis, is about hope, about how the chance finding of a Picasso sketch brings hope to Alex and James's failing marriage following the break-up of the family home. Reconciliation, it seems, is always possible.

Part two, The Caf de l'Amour, is about love in all of its numerous forms. Lovers Margaret & Emile and Barbara & Pablo bravely & uninhibitedly explore love, infatuation, lust & deceit against the destructive backdrop of war-torn Paris, 1915. In doing so, the lovers discover as much about themselves as they do about the war or, indeed, love.
