An anthology of short, lyrical poems.
During the pandemic lockdown, people felt isolated because their movements and meetings were restricted. From the confronting sadness of those times and by recalling treasured memories of the major influences in her life, Pam Ward found she developed a keener appreciation and awareness of the natural world around her.
In the first of three groups of poems, she describes and explores her observations and her own emotions during and after the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020-21.
In the second, she reflects on some of the people she has loved and examines how they helped to shape her view of the world.
In the final group, she learns to value even more highly some precious encounters with endangered animals, birds and plants. She points out that their existence is threatened in the same way and by the same forces as our own. We are not separate from the world around us: we share both its dangers and its destiny.
