Book Overview

Lady Susan, The Watsons: With A Memoir By Her Nephew (1892) is a collection of three unfinished works by the renowned English author Jane Austen. The first work, Lady Susan, is a novella that tells the story of the manipulative and cunning Lady Susan Vernon, who is determined to secure wealthy husbands for herself and her daughter. The second work, The Watsons, is a novel that follows the lives of the Watson family, particularly the eldest daughter Emma, as they navigate the challenges of courtship and social status. The third piece is a memoir written by Austen's nephew, James Edward Austen-Leigh, which provides insight into the author's life and writing process. While these works were never completed by Austen, they offer a glimpse into her creative process and showcase her skill in crafting complex characters and witty dialogue. This edition of Lady Susan, The Watsons: With A Memoir By Her Nephew was published in 1892 and includes an introduction by Austen-Leigh.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
