Stephen is successful, incredibly wealthy, and happily married with two amazing kids. Yet, he is unsatisfied. As time ticks on, Stephen finds the trappings and luxuries of his life-the consumerism, the waste, and the ego-distasteful. He dreads days at the office and meetings meant to finalize agreements.

Today, he sits in his office, reminiscing, when he is visited by a small warbler. How happy the bird seems He stays for a moment, letting Stephen approach him, before he flies off again. With a start, Stephen realizes that today is the twentieth anniversary of his Grandpa Al's death.

He had spent some of the best times of his life with his grandparents Al and Martha. Farmers living off the land in rural Ontario, they didn't have much, but they had a roof over their heads, delicious homecooked meals in their bellies, meaning in their lives, and a lot of love to spare. His grandparents had seemed satisfied, fulfilled. Was that the gift of a simple, honest life?

Stephen is determined to make a change. Thankfully he will be spending the Victoria Day long weekend with his Grandma Martha, still at the farm. His rock, she will surely be able to help him weather this storm, rediscover his roots, and find a little more meaning.
