The War that Devoured

By Mr Mark Richard Edmonds

Lieutenant Harrington thought he understood war. He had braved the trenches, survived the shellfire, and led men into battle. But nothing could have prepared him for what lurked beneath the mud.

Something ancient. Something hungry.

As wounded soldiers vanish without a trace and whispers creep through the trenches, fear spreads like disease. The men begin to dread the ground beneath their feet as much as the enemy beyond the barbed wire. The war is not just between men anymore-something else is taking them, something that does not care for sides or nationalities.

Harrington fights to keep his platoon alive, but as the horrors around him grow, so does his own uncertainty. What is real? What is nightmare? What if the two have become one and the same?

A brutal, harrowing descent into the madness of war, The War That Devoured blends historical fiction with chilling horror, perfect for fans of The Terror and Jacob's Ladder. As the final page turns, one question remains-was it madness, or was it real?
