Shortly after its war for independence, America found itself once again at war with England. Despite its lackluster military sytem, the United States--against the wishes of many of its states--went to war against the British, handily defeating the colonial power. Often referred to as "the war nobody won," the War of 1812 demonstrated to the world that the United States was willing to fight--even if national security had not truly been at risk!
