I am a high school English teacher, and I have taught William Saroyan's The Human Comedy for twenty years Human Comedy (An Hbj Modern Classic. This is a great book for information, pictures, and graphics on how the people in the United States lived during those years. I love the photo of a woman painting her legs to make it look like she had on nylon stockings. Also included is info on victory gardens, scrap drives, ration coupons, the Hollywood Canteen, and a myriad of other items. I am so thrilled to have discovered it in my local library, causing me to look to purchase it to use in school. You won't be disappointed!
