Evacuation. The loss of a home. The condition of being a refugee. A love for one's own place on Earth, even when re-
turning to it is no longer possible.
This autobiographical work is written by an author who carries the cultural code of Polissia - born in Prypiat and
evacuated at the age of four and a half. It speaks to everyone who has lost a home, loved ones, or a sense of identity.
This is not a book about Chornobyl, but a reflection on trauma through Chornobyl. Characters, motifs, and images move
from one text to another, forming a single tapestry of memory - from the flooding of Nahirtsi in 1971 to the refugee experience of 2022.
