WALLER COUNTY, TEXAS, is a relatively small county, ranking at 62 out of 254 counties and there are 53000 stories in Waller County. The six stories contained within these pages have in common that they all take place entirely, or in part, in Waller County. Our little county is generally regarded as sleepy, sort of backwoodsy, by our more sophisticated neighbors in nearly all surrounding counties but that image is merely a facade. From our initial story, Philly the Gimp, which begins in 1947, in New York City and brings a Mafia presence to the county, through to the unexpected arrival of a nuclear weapon near the county's largest university, in Quarter Past Armageddon, the stories are fast paced and varied.
