The Wallace SED notation was created in 2023 by composer and music producer Steve Wallace (b. 1977) to service the need of the incorporation of electronic drum performers (AKA: "finger drummers") and the assigned sounds associated with the instrument to present a visual representation correlating to written musical scores that include instruments that are more commonly used in western classical music structures such as, but not limited to:

-Musicals

-Chamber works

This book was written to show the origin and purpose of this notation as well as an argumentative support for the need of a standardized system for the integration of the electronic drum machine with a variety of progressive concert works with "traditional" western classical music notation.
