We should learn things as we are waiting for God. I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope (Psalms 130:5). Growth should be happening throughout the waiting period. How you choose to wait is important. A person should actively wait (doing things necessary to reach your goal and not just wait on God in my opinion). For example, I have been in the waiting room for 5 years, but the lessons and invaluable processing I have undergone are exactly what I needed to become the person that God has created me to be and become. Truth be told, we don't know how long the waiting room will take to get through. Did God tell you how long? He doesn't owe us an explanation or detailed plan; we just got to trust him and wait for his timing. Some are surprised, but a person can come back from anything: divorce, illness, bankruptcy, anything if they have God and believe despite the journey.
