I asked the Immortal Waiter a simple question.
"What does the future look like?"
I was thinking about my grandchildren.
He didn't answer right away.
Instead, he handed me a journal.
"This," he said, "is one outcome."
What follows is my attempt to record what I was given.
Two hundred years from now, humanity is no longer alone. The galaxy is filled with civilizations-some older, some stronger, and many far less patient than we are. Alliances exist, but they are fragile. Trust is rare. And something has begun moving through that fragile balance, removing entire worlds without warning.
