The second and final book in the Serpendracus duology, The Vixen and the Serpent is a fun and sassy romantic fantasy with a HEA and no cliffhangers. Calli: I thought my heart had broken beyond repair when Brek, my cousin-slash-baby brother, died in a car wreck over six months ago, but now my heart was fracturing all over again. Now Ryn, too, was gone? Why were the good ones always cheated out of life too early? Now that I really thought about it, the story of Ryn and Brek's accident had a few holes. The more I mentally dug into the case, the more questions rose to the surface. Was Ryn's mother, Liz, hiding something? As a police detective, I was trained to analyze people, and something wasn't lining up. If no one would give me answers, I would seek them out myself. Chase: Rumor had it there was a new female at the Fort.Everyone had been expecting the new recruit, apparently a male named Vince, but when lieutenants Murphy and Smith unloaded two unconscious bodies off the jet, General Abernathy was pissed. It was all too similar to when the idiot Johnson brothers, Cade and Jax, accidentally brought Ryn to the Fort. That not-so-little mishap resulted in multiple butt-chewings, grown males crying, a battle with fundamental Serp laws, and a few more gray hairs on our great leader's burgundy head. If one human girl could do that much damage, imagine what two could do. I could understand why Abernathy was an inch away from blowing his lid, but I couldn't lie and say I was unhappy about the turn of events. There was a new female in town, and that was my favorite type of rumor.
