The Virgin Birth: And Other Essays In New Testament Christology

The Virgin Birth is a collection of essays written by Dr. David A. Yeagley when he was a seminarian at Yale Divinity School. He graduated from YDS in 1979 with a Master of Divinity. These essays were collected and edited in 2007. Dr. Yeagley has added a major Introduction to the first and longest essay, "The Virgin Birth." There are a total of seven essays: 1) The Virgin Birth; 2) The Power of Jesus; 3) Communion and the Ordinance of Humility; 4) Pharisaical Objections; 5) The Second Time; 6) The Malignancy of Abuse; and 7) The Word of Dom Dix. The essays pertain to topics which were of great importance to Dr. Yeagley at the time, and still represent critical issues of today, such as the divinity of Christ, and the identity of the Church. He has included in footnotes many of the comments of his Yale Professors, both critical and complimentary.Yeagley entered Yale Divinity School in January, 1975, immediately after having completed a Bachelor of Music at Oberlin Conservatory in December, 1974. He came to Yale in pursuit of a philosophy of religion music. He continued that search through a Master of Arts (in history and literature) at Emory University's Institute of Liberal Arts. He obtained that Masters in 1981. Later, after several years in social work, he returned to music and earned an Artist Diploma from the University of Hartford's Hartt School in 1990. Finally, Dr. Yeagley earned the Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Arizona in 1994. Presently, Dr. Yeagley is a composer, and writes social commentary as well. His web sites are: www.badeagle.com (social) and www.davidyeagley.com (musical). He has written articles for David Horowitz' FrontPageMagazine.com, Peter Brimelow's VDARE.com, and has appeared on Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, History Channel, and C-SPAN. Dr. Yeagley was the first American Indian at Yale Divinity School. He is an enrolled member of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma. He is the first American Indian to be commissioned to compose a full-length action movie score. In 2007, Dr. Yeagley was commissioned by the Oklahoma State Historical Society to write an 80 minute symphonic score for the 1920 silent film, "Daughter of Dawn." The film and music were premiered June 10, 2011, at the Oklahoma City Dead Center Film Festival. In addition to composing, Dr. Yeagley continues biblical studies, and historical research. The revival of the Yale Divinity essays represents an effort to address the issues that are the basic confrontations facing any Christian or Bible believer. For instance, "The Virgin Birth" considers the biological aspects of the doctrine, and explores optional ways in which such a birth could occur, and the theological implications of each. The "Introduction" Dr. Yeagley has provided examines the early absence of significance placed on the miraculous birth by even the gospel writers. Dr. Yeagley original Yale Divinity essay, combined with the 2007 introduction, created a engaging discussion of Christology.Dr. Yeagley continues to pursue religious music, and is presently creating liturgical music in new forms and also reviving religious music he wrote as early as 1969. Religion, music, and literature have been the three foremost pursuits in Dr. Yeagley's professional career. The social commentary incorporates the influence of all three. The Virgin Birth was Dr. Yeagley's first serious attempt to articulate his own faith.
