The Vinyl Countdown: New Edition

By Gary Cassidy

Each individual story in this collection has been inspired by the lyrics of eight classic songs, their respective release dates span the 1960s to 1980s.
It is in no way an attempt on my part to explain the lyrics of these songs as it is not my place so to do, but rather it represents a distillation of the kaleidoscope of possibilities which the lyrics play out in my mind. They supply the backgrounds and create the situations that facilitate the outcomes which, in my imagination, the original lyrics portray.
The stories contain a mix of espionage, infatuation, space travel and romance, from life on the breadline to rich hedonism.
It is a journey from a deprived area of London to an Arabian Palace, from beautiful Paris to the West Coast of America. It bridges three continents, over three centuries and even ventures into outer space.
